So it’s been years since I’ve written anything in this blog and in fact it was when my beloved Miles finally crossed the rainbow bridge.
Well we are about to embark on a new journey. His name is Rocky. He’s a 10 year old blind lab whose owner suddenly passed away. I remain in contact with Safe Harbor Lab Rescue in Colorado through social media and in particular Miles’ foster mom. She posted about Rocky and one comment led to another and then it turned out Rocky was going to be up for adoption. I just knew it was meant to be. Heather and talked about it and agreed that we could make it work even as Marley and Morgan get older.
Marley in particular hasn’t been the same since Miles passed away. Miles was his job, as a dog with some shepherd in him he loves to herd the pack. Miles and Marley spent everyday together while we were at work hanging out in the house. Marley took the loss of Miles particularly hard and our hope is that Rocky can provide him with that sense of purpose again.
So I’ve flown to Colorado, getting to spend the weekend with family and today on Christmas I got to pick Rocky up at his foster mom’s. I am so excited, he and I are going to embark an adventure tomorrow morning. Driving back to Florida.

You both look really, really happy! A great way to start the upcoming New Year. Best wishes.

We adopted our Biscuit from Safe Harbor when he was 10 – looks just like this featured dog including the tennis ball in his mouth. Even though Biscuit isn’t blind I didn’t think we’d ever adopt an older lab again but he is the Biggest Blessing in our lives. I wouldn’t hesitate to adopt an older lab again and again! God Bless those who go for the “older” animals.
