I’m going to make you an offer…

Okay sorry I’ve been out of the blogosphere the past few days.  I’ve been saddled with stomach problems (not totally gone) and then as of yesterday the cold/sinus crap Heather got on the way down here.  So we’ve still been on the hunt but the rest of my time has either been sleeping or trying to figure out what food I can actually eat.

To top it off we got our first complaint about the dogs from the apartment manager on Monday.  Apparently they were barking all day long when we’d leave for our house hunt.  So we’ve reconfigured in the last couple days with literally all three kennels in our bedroom and that seems to keep them isolated enough that they don’t bark every time a door in the complex opens.  Fingers crossed that this solution works since we now out numbered 3 to 2 in the room.  The recruiter from RJ who worked with both Heather and I also lives in the complex and has recommended a lady whom she uses to walk her dog a couple times a day while she’s at work.  We are going to have her meet the dogs later this week and give that a try starting next week.

So now onto the house hunt.  We have been spending darn near all day everyday looking at homes or neighborhoods and have a handful we really like.  Two are across the street from the beach but need a good amount of work (heads up contractor Milt).  The other two are in turnkey condition, one is probably five minutes away from beach by car and the other is nestled on a little island called Tierra Verde.  Tierra Verde is south of St. Pete and is incredibly quiet and isolated.  It’s not that close to any of the major beaches but is really close to Fort De Soto County Park which is an incredible expanse that has gulf and bay beaches and even a dog beach.  The problem is you can’t walk to the beach.

So our first choice is probably the least ready when it comes to what we want but has the most space and the biggest upside potential.  It also has the distinction of being across the street from the beach but two houses off Gulf Blvd so you don’t get near the road noise you do with the other beach cottage we liked.  So today we put in an offer.  We should know by the end of tomorrow if they are interested and want to counter or if they are going with a competing offer.

When you walk out the front door and look to your right the stop sign is Gulf Blvd and public access is just one frogger street crossing away.

One note on the cooler weather down here, I think I may have judged a little too harshly.  60 and breezy doesn’t feel the same down here as it does in Colorado, I don’t know if I’m getting acclimated to warmth quicker than I thought or if I’m just being a wimp? Either way that weather requires a light jacket.

I’ll leave you one last little tidbit from our visit to Fort DeSoto County Park amazingly peaceful.

Hi guys. Funny about your take on the weather. It was 70 in AZ and I was expecting it to feel warmer as well. Today’s 82 felt great. I went to the pool and read for a while. I hope all goes well with the offer on the house. I am excited to hear the outcome! Feel better, Ben.

Ben, you’ve only been gone 10 days! 60 degrees at 5200 feet altitude feels much warmer than 60 degrees at sea level!

Hope the house you chose works out. Take care, my best to Heather.
