So off we go again today to look at more houses. We did a ton of recon yesterday driving from Tierra Verde (a small island community south of St Pete) all the way up the coast to Clearwater.
We’ve been looking at a variety of houses all different shapes and sizes. One thing I realized yesterday was a multiple-level home could work but not if the master is on the upper level. This of course would seem obvious with a blind dog but I quite frequently miss obvious signals.
Wednesday night H2 was telling me that Marley and Morgan were taking the stairs when they went out since we’re on the fourth floor. Great idea right? They come back tired and it forces us to get some exercise as well. So in my infinite wisdom and on a whim I decided to take Miles down the stairs. Before you get appalled at my lack of common sense remember that I am normally the most protective parent imaginable. Needless to say that was a disaster, just because Miles knows what “step” means on a normal walk isn’t the same as a full blown 4 flights of narrow stairs. Anyhow it was closer to body surfing than walking. And we only went one flight. I am convinced he can learn to navigate stairs just not like that. Which is good because one of the houses we like has some stairs.

The hunt continues

Ben, you’re story about trying to take Miles down 4 flights of steps without first teaching the dog how to count – i.e. “that’s one step, just 47 more to go” is making us feel sorry for Miles. Of course teaching a dog to count to 50 is probably like trying to teach a congress person what a Trillion dollars of debt is or to teach a pig to fly – it just irritates them, and it can’t be done anyway. Hope you and H2 are soaking up the sun as you house hunt. Good luck and best wishes for your new home.

Hi–Florida sounds lovely right now. Denver has snow. Amy would like to get your blog. Her email address is askask@comcast.net. Love the pictures of Miles. He’s such a nice boy.
